Provincial Nominee Programs: a targeted route matched to a specific province
Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and other provinces nominate candidates who match their local labour market, either adding 600 CRS points inside Express Entry or offering a direct-to-PR stream outside it.
Overview
Every PNP runs Enhanced streams, aligned to Express Entry, and often Base streams that lead to PR without a federal profile at all. An Enhanced nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score, which effectively guarantees an ITA at the next draw. Base streams apply directly to the province and can suit candidates who fall short of Express Entry’s scoring on their own.
Because each province manages its own priorities, PNPs are also the most common backup plan we build alongside a primary Express Entry strategy, so a single weak point in your profile does not stall your entire case.
Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC at a glance
- Ontario (OINP) now runs a single Workforce Priority Stream covering TEER 0–3 occupations, TEER 4–5 occupations, and self-employed physicians, replacing its earlier set of separate streams.
- Saskatchewan (SINP) uses capped, sector-based intake windows rather than continuous draws, across its International Skilled Worker and Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-streams.
- Alberta (AAIP) runs eight active streams, including a recently overhauled Rural Renewal stream with per-community caps.
- British Columbia (BC PNP) Skilled Worker stream generally requires a full-time job offer from a BC employer in a TEER 2 or 3 occupation, at or above the relevant median wage.

Frequently Asked
Questions about Provincial Nominee Programs
Can I apply to more than one province at once?
In most cases yes, though some streams require exclusivity once you receive a nomination. We map this out before you apply anywhere.
Is a PNP slower than Express Entry alone?
It depends on the stream. Enhanced nominations can be faster overall once you factor in the guaranteed ITA, while some Base streams take longer to process at the provincial stage.
Do I need a job offer for every PNP stream?
No. Several streams, including parts of Ontario’s and Saskatchewan’s programs, do not require one, though having one strengthens most applications.
